The Professional Services arm of Fusion5's Managed Services Provider (MSP) practice continues to grow rapidly, supporting complex cloud, AI, infrastructure and security initiatives for some of our most strategic and highly regulated customers. We're now looking for a Senior Azure Cloud Consultant to play a pivotal role in shaping customer outcomes, based in either Auckland or Wellington.
This is a senior, front‑of‑room consulting role for someone who enjoys working directly with customers to design and shape Azure‑based solutions. You'll sit at the intersection of consulting, solution architecture and delivery, helping customers navigate complex cloud decisions while ensuring solutions are commercially sound and deliverable. You'll work across multiple initiatives at once and regularly collaborate across Fusion5 pillars including Business Applications, Data, Analytics & AI, Integration, and Cloud to optimise delivery approaches and outcomes.
What You'll Do
You'll be trusted to operate as a Senior Azure Consultant with real ownership. This includes:
- Designing and owning Azure‑based solutions aligned to customer goals, technical constraints and delivery reality.
- Identifying opportunities to incorporate AI‑enabled capabilities into cloud solutions, working closely with Data, Analytics & AI specialists where appropriate.
- Applying the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework to guide landing zones, governance, migration and operating models.
- Writing clear, outcome‑focused Statements of Work, including scope, assumptions, dependencies and risks.
- Designing solutions that may span more than one Fusion5 business pillar, identifying efficiencies and optimising delivery plans.
- Engaging confidently in conversations around networking, identity, security and hybrid connectivity, adapting your depth to suit the audience.
- Leading customer conversations using whiteboards, diagrams and plain English to explore problems, options and trade‑
- Supporting multiple projects or initiatives concurrently, prioritising effectively in a fast‑moving consulting environment.
- Working closely with sales, delivery and managed services teams to ensure seamless transition from design through to execution.
- Bringing a strong "get stuff done" mindset - taking ownership from idea to outcome.
What You'll Bring
This role suits an experienced Azure consultant or solution architect who enjoys influence, variety and responsibility. You'll have:
- Strong hands‑on knowledge of Azure, including core infrastructure, networking, identity, governance and security concepts.
- Experience in key Azure projects such as Platform Landing Zone design, migrations to Azure, infrastructure as Code and FinOps / Cost Management.
- Proven experience consulting with customers in a professional services or consulting environment.
- Confidence shaping work at the whiteboard and translating conversations into clear, structured solution designs.
- Experience in presales including discovery workshops, writing Statements of Work, calculating costs (for Professional Services work and Azure running costs) and contributing to commercial scoping and estimation including RFPs.
- The ability to juggle multiple initiatives at once while maintaining quality and momentum.
- A collaborative mindset and comfort working across teams, disciplines and business pillars.
- A practical understanding of cloud best practice, governance and risk - balancing innovation with feasibility.
- Experience working with government or regulated customers is highly regarded.
- Azure certifications - highly desirable but not essential if you bring strong provable real‑world experience.
- The ability to support and optimise Microsoft 365 platforms (desirable but not essential).
