Fusion5 is seeking a talented Data Architect to join our team. You'll work with customers to understand their business processes, data challenges, and future needs, translating these into practical, scalable, and well-governed data architectures.
This role goes beyond high-level architecture diagrams. You'll help define how data should be structured, stored, and managed across operational and analytical use cases. You'll lead logical and physical data design, shape data models that support integration and reporting, and help ensure solutions are secure, traceable, and practical to deliver.
While this is first and foremost a data architecture role, we're also looking for someone with strong adjacent capability across modern data engineering and platform delivery.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design of scalable, secure, and well-governed data architectures tailored to customer needs.
- Design logical and physical data models for enterprise and operational systems, supporting integration, operational processing, reporting, and future analytics.
- Define data structures for API-driven ingestion, lifecycle management, auditability, regulatory traceability, and long-term maintainability.
- Apply strong relational database design and normalisation practices, including reference data and history-aware modelling where required.
- Translate business challenges into practical data architecture designs and supporting documentation.
- Work closely with solution architects, integration teams, analysts, engineers, and reporting teams to align the data layer with the wider solution.
- Contribute to modern data platform delivery across cloud ecosystems, helping shape ingestion, transformation, modelling, and governance approaches.
- Ensure solutions are cost-effective, maintainable, secure, and high-performing.
- Build trusted relationships with customers, stakeholders, and delivery teams.
- Support solution shaping and provide architecture input during customer discussions where needed.
- Ensure solutions meet compliance, security, and governance requirements.
What We're Looking For
You're someone who builds trust, takes time to understand a customer's business and data landscape, and enjoys turning ambiguity into structure. You think strategically, but you're pragmatic designing data architectures that are scalable, governed, and achievable within real-world delivery constraints.
- 5+ years' experience in data architecture, senior data engineering, or technical consulting within data and analytics delivery.
- Strong hands-on experience in logical and physical data modelling, relational database design, and structuring data for operational and analytical use cases.
- Experience designing data solutions that consider lifecycle, history, traceability, reference data, and governance requirements.
- Strong understanding of integration and ingestion patterns, including API-driven and batch-based data flows.
- Hands-on experience across modern cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and/or Snowflake.
- Practical knowledge of data engineering and platform delivery, including SQL, Python, Spark/PySpark, Azure Data Factory, dbt, or similar tooling.
- Experience working with technical and business stakeholders to translate requirements into workable solution designs.
- Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Industry certifications in relevant data technologies are advantageous.
- Ongoing professional development in modern data architecture and engineering practices.
