We’re now looking for a Technical Team Lead to help lead and grow our Australian Data & Integration capability, based in either Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys staying close to the technology while driving engineering direction, delivery quality, and platform evolution.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you’ll lead a team delivering modern, cloud-native integration platforms while contributing hands-on to architecture, development, and engineering standards. You will:
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of engineers—building a strong, accountable, and high-performing culture
- Provide technical leadership across delivery, guiding architecture decisions and solving complex integration challenges
- Design and build cloud-native integration solutions, including: Serverless and event-driven architectures (Lambda, SNS, SQS) and API-led integrations (REST, GraphQL, Webhooks)
- Lead end-to-end solution delivery from architecture through to deployment and support
- Drive best practice across DevOps, CI/CD, observability, and security within the integration platform
- Oversee and contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (GitLab, Terraform/CloudFormation)
- Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Set and uplift standards across code quality, testing, and engineering practices (automation-first approach)
- Support delivery planning, resourcing, and technical governance across projects
- Contribute to the evolution of Fusion5’s integration platform, including reusable frameworks, tooling, and developer experience improvements
- Support team growth through hiring, onboarding, and capability development
What You’ll Bring
This role suits someone who combines strong technical depth with leadership capability—someone who leads from the front and thinks in terms of platforms and products, not just projects. You’re likely to bring:
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers within integration or platform teams
- Strong hands-on experience building cloud-native integration solutions in AWS
- Deep experience designing scalable, event-driven, and API-led architectures
- Full-stack engineering capability across: Backend development (Node.js, modern frameworks), API development (REST, GraphQL, Webhooks) and Integration patterns and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation-first delivery
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code, containerisation, and modern cloud tooling
- Solid grounding in security and integration authentication patterns (OAuth2, JWT, service-to-service auth)
- A product mindset—experience building or evolving platforms, not just delivering projects
- Ability to operate in a consulting/services environment, balancing delivery, customer outcomes, and commercial considerations
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate technical decisions into business value
- Passion for continuous improvement, modern engineering practices, and leveraging AI for developer productivity
- Experience across other integration platforms such as AIS, Mulesoft and Boomi.
