# Senior Consultant - Fabric/Databricks

- *Build and deliver modern data platforms for some of New Zealand’s most ambitious organisations*
- *Go deep on Databricks or Microsoft Fabric — and keep growing across both*
- *Real variety: platform build, data migration and AI-enabled delivery*

At Fusion5, we’re more than a solutions provider — we’re a Transformation Partner. Across Australia and New Zealand, we help ambitious organisations go beyond, getting more from their people, data and technology. Across business applications, AI, cloud, data, integration and managed services, we bring together connected solutions that solve real business problems — and we bring that same care to our own people.

We’re looking for a Senior Consultant – Databricks / Fabric to join our New Zealand Data & Analytics team, based in Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch with flexible, hybrid working. This is a hands-on delivery role for an engineer who owns their workstream end to end, works directly with clients, and takes real pride in building things well.

**What You’ll Do**

You’ll join a close-knit New Zealand team of data specialists with a shared interest in building things properly. We share what we learn, back each other on the hard problems, and invest in people as the team grows.

- **Build the platform.** Deliver modern data platforms on Databricks or Microsoft Fabric — ingestion, transformation, lakehouse/medallion design, modelling and optimisation
- **Own the delivery.** Take workstreams end to end, from design and build through test/UAT, deployment and handover, managing your own scope, quality and timelines
- **Work with clients.** Gather requirements, run working sessions, produce estimates and keep stakeholders close throughout delivery
- **Flex across the work.** Move between platform build and data migration streams such as D365 (CRM and F&O), delivered with our Business Applications teams
- **Use AI.** Apply AI in your day-to-day work to deliver better and faster, and help clients adopt practical AI on well-built data foundations
- **Share what you know.** Contribute to our engineering standards, reusable patterns and knowledge base, and coach more junior engineers

**What You’ll Bring**

You’ll go deep on Databricks or Microsoft Fabric across a varied client base platform build one engagement, a data migration or AI-enabled use case the next working alongside our architects and principals and helping lift the engineers around you. We work T-shaped, so exposure to data governance and quality, or to analytics and reporting, is valued too.

- 5+ years of solid hands-on data engineering experience with strong delivery on Databricks (Delta, workflows, Autoloader) or Microsoft Fabric (lakehouse, DirectLake, pipelines) — credible in the other, and keen to build depth across both
- Strong SQL and Python/PySpark, with solid ETL/ELT pipeline design and data modelling
- Hands-on design and build with lakehouse / medallion architecture
- DevOps practices — Git, CI/CD and environment promotion
- Strong consulting skills — requirements gathering, working sessions, independent estimating and clear client communication, with the confidence to own a workstream
- Confident, practical use of AI in your day-to-day work, and an interest in where AI is heading for our clients
- The legal right to work in New Zealand with the ability to engage with clients across the country

Capability across both Databricks and Fabric, Unity Catalog, Terraform and infrastructure as code, Power BI and semantic modelling, data migration experience (including D365 CRM or F&O), dbt, and relevant certifications — Databricks (Certified Data Engineer Associate or Professional), Microsoft Fabric (DP-600 / DP-700) and Azure Data Engineer (DP-203) — are all strong advantages.

**What’s in it for you?**

At Fusion5, you’ll own real delivery from day one, with the backing of an established trans-Tasman organisation and experienced architects and consultants who’ll help you grow — working alongside people who genuinely care about outcomes, not just output. We’re proud to be a diverse, inclusive and forward-thinking employer, committed to a workplace where our people feel engaged, challenged, supported and successful.

- Collaborative, supportive culture where people enjoy working together
- Competitive salary, flexible work arrangements and a genuine focus on work-life balance
- Birthday leave, volunteer days, and regular social events
- Clear development pathways and opportunities to grow with the practice.

If you’re a senior engineer who enjoys variety, owns your work and wants to keep growing across the modern data stack — we’d love to hear from you. **Apply Now.**
