# Data Engineer

•     Build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines with Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric

• Develop high-quality SQL transformations and modular DBT data models

• Enable trusted, secure and production-ready data for analytics and reporting

We’re looking for a Data Engineer with strong hands-on experience across SQL, DBT, Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Microsoft Fabric. You’ll design and maintain reliable data pipelines, develop curated datasets, optimise performance, and implement data quality, governance and CI/CD practices to support reporting, analytics and downstream consumption.

**What you’ll do**

You’ll build and operate scalable data solutions across ingestion, transformation, orchestration and delivery, working with BI, analytics and product teams to turn business requirements into reliable data products.

• Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Fabric Data Factory.

• Implement batch, incremental and CDC-based ingestion from diverse cloud and on-premises data sources.

• Maintain robust orchestration with scheduling, dependency management, retries and monitoring.

• Develop complex SQL transformations, stored procedures, views and analytical datasets.

• Optimise SQL workloads using indexing, partitioning, statistics management and execution-plan tuning.

**Essential Experience**

• Implement data validation, reconciliation checks and quality rules using SQL-driven logic.

• Build modular, version-controlled DBT models across staging, intermediate and mart layers.

• Implement DBT tests, documentation, macros and incremental models for scalable ELT processing.

• Maintain lineage, quality checks and deployment workflows using DBT Cloud or DBT Core with CI/CD.

Azure & Microsoft Fabric Engineering

• Develop and manage datasets and curated layers using Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and Warehouse.

• Implement Delta/Parquet-based data structures, schema evolution and medallion architecture patterns.

**What you’ll bring**

You’ll bring a focus on performance, reliability, security and maintainability across data platforms and pipelines.

• Configure and optimise Fabric pipelines, Lakehouse tables, Warehouses and SQL endpoints.

**Performance, Quality & Monitoring**

• Monitor SQL queries, DBT jobs, ADF pipelines and Fabric workloads; troubleshoot bottlenecks and maintain pipeline reliability.

• Implement automated data-quality checks, SLA monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.

• Apply Azure and Fabric security standards, including RBAC, secrets management, RLS/OLS and workspace governance.

• Maintain Git-based version control and deploy pipelines, DBT models and Fabric assets through Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.

**Collaboration & Delivery**

• Work with BI, analytics and product teams to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions.

• Provide clean, well-modelled datasets for reporting, analytics and downstream consumption.

• Document pipelines, models, dependencies and troubleshooting guidelines to support ongoing operations.

**Role Scope Keywords**

• ADF, Microsoft Fabric, Fabric Data Factory, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Power BI semantic models, DAX, Power Query (M), DBT, SQL performance tuning, incremental loads, CI/CD, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, governance, RLS/OLS and monitoring.
